WEST CHICAGO 2019

COMMUNITY BANNER PROJECT

The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission recently held its 11th annual community banner project focusing on the theme “LOVE”. Forty submissions were whittled down to 21 winners. The art was then reproduced on decorative banners and affixed to lamp posts along Main and Washington Streets.

You can view all 21 winning original art submissions now on display at the West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main Street, HOURS: Thursday 10 AM to 6 PM; Friday-Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM.

Wheaton resident, Johanna Rebman, was one of the winners.

“Last winter my husband, Rob, and I were suffering from a serious case of “Cabin Fever”, thanks to the Polar Vortex,” Johanna recalls with a smile. “We decided to venture out for a change of scenery and found ourselves in a cozy coffeeshop in

West Chicago. That’s where I learned about the banner contest their arts commission was sponsoring. I submitted a picture I had previously drawn of our neighbor’s dog, Tory, with his favorite plush toy, Buddy. Seemed like the perfect choice for the contest.”

And as they say, “the rest is history.”

Congratulations, Johanna!
